With its pleasing character and modern spirit, sCiarMat is a typical Italian, aperitivo-style wine.

Etichetta

The Label

The name “sCiarMat”, which translates to “the clearly crazy one” in Piedmont dialect, reflects his personality in each bottle. Born and raised in Barbaresco, sCiarMat is different from other wines using the Charmat Method. It’s actually him! The clearly crazy one, depicted on the label. He takes us to a surreal place, in which the inebriating bubbles, depicted by the pearly white label, and the floral aromas, portrayed by the card in his left hand, come to life. The little kitten above his hat symbolizes the small amount of residual sugar present in the wine. He is truly a charmer, that crazy one, he is capable of making everyone fall in love with each sip.

Vinification

The grapes are collected by hand and brought directly to the winery in small crates of 25kg. The grapes undergo a delicate pressing and the juice is separated from the skins. After settling, the must ferments in stainless steel, temperature and pressure-controlled vats. The temperature is kept low to prevent malolactic fermentation. The wine ages on its lees for just a few months to avoid oxidation and increase the aromatic complexity. Afterward, the wine undergoes a very slow secondary fermentation in pressure-controlled vats to create its elegant perlage. Following a cold stabilization, the wine is bottled at the end of winter.

Tasting notes

The wine is characterized by its shimmering straw color and green highlights. When poured into the glass, its tiny bubbles are brilliant and intense. On the nose are notes of fresh fruit, oven baked bread, and linden. On the palate, sCiarMat has an enveloping mouthfeel; hints of peaches and orange blossom stand out.
